This weekend in Middle Tennessee (July 31–August 2, 2026), the biggest draws are the grand opening of the new Downtown Square Park in Lebanon on Friday, Vince Gill's residency at the Ryman, and Bob Dylan at Ascend Amphitheater on Saturday. Twenty-one events span Wilson, Davidson, Rutherford, and Williamson counties — many of them free, on Tennessee's tax-free weekend.
Lebanon finally cuts the ribbon on the new Downtown Square Park Friday evening, and I'll be there live music, the whole square out for it, the kind of thing that makes you glad you live here. Over in Nashville, Vince Gill is closing his tour with a Ryman residency and Bob Dylan's at Ascend Saturday night, so the big-ticket music is covered too. It's also Tennessee's tax-free weekend, which means every farmers market and back-to-school event doubles as a good excuse to knock out the shopping.
Wilson County: Lebanon, Mt. Juliet & Watertown
Home turf, and the square is the center of gravity this weekend with the new park opening.
Downtown Square Park Grand Opening

This is the one I'd clear my Friday for. The city, the Chamber, and Historic Lebanon Main Street are cutting the ribbon on the new Downtown Square Park at 5:45, then Sweetn3 plays live until eight. Park on a side street off West Main and walk in the square lots fill fast the second there's music. If you've been driving past the construction fencing for months like the rest of us, this is the payoff.
Slammedenuff Car Show Tour

Two hundred–plus show cars take over the Farm Bureau Expo Center Saturday afternoon, inside and out, with vendors, a live DJ, and games for the kids. Bring a little cash for the vendor booths. Runs one to six, and the indoor half is a blessing if it's a scorcher.

Hangry Joe's on West Main is running a back-to-school appreciation day Saturday. The listing doesn't post a start time, so call ahead if you're planning around it but honestly, any weekend is a fine weekend for their wings.

The Brentwood Historic Commission opens several of the city's historic properties Sunday, two to five a rare chance to get inside places you normally only see from the road. A good Sunday if you want something slower after a loud Saturday.
